Madeon pushed his project into a new phase with the release of “Car Crash Baby,” a single that marked a clear shift toward a louder, rougher, and more disruptive sound. The track arrived through Mom+Pop and expanded on the direction he introduced with “Hi!,” showing how far he was willing to take this new approach.
The production leaned into distorted layers, sharp edges, and a vocal delivery that carried more tension than anything he had put forward in recent years.
“Car Crash Baby” built steadily before breaking into a full surge of energy. The structure reflected the influence he picked up during his exploration of beat switch techniques, and it created a clear lift halfway through without abandoning the momentum he built during the opening section.
He described the track as a reflection of the pressure artists place on themselves when chasing success, and that intention carried through the way he shaped the arrangement. The electronic foundation remained central, yet the delivery felt far more raw, with details that pointed toward the French electronic sound he grew up with.
What He’s Been Up To
The release followed a long run of activity during a busy year.
His September single “Hi!” earned widespread attention, leading to coverage from Billboard, The Needle Drop, and multiple electronic outlets. He also debuted an ambitious stage production during his sold out Red Rocks headline performance, paired with a fan pop-up in Los Angeles that drew lines throughout the day. These moments showcased a renewed focus on immersion, visual direction, and a level of creative control that had been developing since his Good Faith era.
Madeon’s path over the last few years included a Grammy nomination for Good Faith, studio work with Lady Gaga, and a series of high-profile festival sets, including his widely praised Coachella performance. He also spent 2024 experimenting with looser DJ formats, collaborations, and special shows, which played a key role in shaping the confidence behind this new period.
“Car Crash Baby” extended the foundation he laid across these experiences and demonstrated how his sound continued to evolve. With more music and tour dates on the way, he positioned this single as the next piece of a larger creative cycle that he has been building from his Los Angeles studio.
