Sihoo M56C Ergonomic Office Chair Review: Is This The Best Ergonomic Chair You Can Get in 2025?

Music producers spend a lot of time sitting down. So, you might as well get a chair that’s nice to sit on.

The problem with sitting for long periods of time is pretty simple: if your back isn’t properly supported, you’re going to feel it later. Similarly, if you aren’t comfortable, you aren’t going to want to stay in that chair and produce for a while. A good chair, specifically an ergonomic chair (a type of chair created to support posture and provide comfort for long periods of sitting), is essential if you’re a music producer.

The big issue? I haven’t actually had one before. Until now, that is.

Enter the Sihoo M56C Ergonomic Office Chair. This chair promotes dynamic lumbar support, an ultra-wide dual-section backrest, premium build quality, adjustability, and unmatched comfort. It’s also the first ergonomic chair I’ve ever owned. And, today, I’ll be reviewing it, to not only determine what I’ve been missing out on, but also to show you why these kinds of chairs are so essential for producers.

The question is, is this the chair you should get? Let’s find out.

Unboxing and Setup

You may notice that the box is a little beat up. That is not on them – this delivery arrived in the middle of a torrential downpour and I wasn’t able to get it inside until after it was already soaked. Luckily, nothing INSIDE was damaged, so we’re off to a good start regardless.

I’ll probably want to mention that you’ll need to be able to lift decently heavy boxes and have solid arm strength to properly put this chair together. This turned into my arm workout for the day.

You’ll be greeted by a haphazard-seeming collection of boxes and parts, but everything was exactly in its right place. Nothing was missing the box, and all of the pieces fit well together inside, even if things look a bit chaotic.

You may be a little surprised at just how many parts are required to put together a chair. It’s quite a few.

This isn’t even all of them. And, things started to get overwhelming very quickly. Luckily, there’s a very helpful instructions manual that comes with it.

You’ll notice that everything is clearly labeled at the top with step-by-step instructions at the bottom. While none of the pieces are actually labeled in reality, the small mockups they provide are plenty to determine which piece is which when looking at all of them.

There’s a QR code on the bottom to bring you to an online setup guide. It didn’t work, so I just used the paper one.

They also provide screws and screwdrivers. This I found to be especially helpful – you won’t need to make a run to the hardware store to properly put the chair together. Note that I had already taken the top row of screws out in this photo. They also provide an extra of each screw in case you lose one – a nice touch.

Now, I should mention that before this, I’ve never put together a piece of furniture before. So, this was new ground for me. I sat down, locked in, and got to work.

I was surprised at how easy it was to track down each piece and screw it together. All of the guesswork is taken out, and all that’s left is just lining things up and screwing them together.

I should mention that when it got to this part (attaching the bottom of the chair to the back), I had a decent amount of trouble. I eventually got it to work, but I wasn’t able to line up the screw holes for quite some time. It was also pretty difficult to get these particular screws in just because of that. But, I eventually got it, and ninety minutes later, I had a finished chair.

The headrest is in fact easily adjustable, as is the height of the chair – there’s a lever underneath the seat, as you’d expect. The build is sturdy, the wheels at the bottom are easy to use so you can maneuver around, and the fabric feels high quality. And, most importantly, it feels comfortable. But, I wasn’t going to get a good answer for you on whether or not this was a good chair for music producers until I actually used it for several days. So, see you in a week after I’ve broken this thing in.

1 Week Later: How Is It?

I have absolutely ZERO complaints with function. The wheels aren’t moving great, but I’ll chalk that up to the fact that I’m using it on a carpet that isn’t nice to any wheels. It feels sturdy, comfortable, and supportive. I used to be distracted by how uncomfortable my old chair was – not anymore. This feels like I’m working on a cloud. Plus, back issues haven’t been a major issue in my life yet, and I highly doubt they will be if I continue using this chair just because of how well it supports my lower back and shoulder area.

Is this chair re-inventing the wheel? No. But, it’s a good example of a really solid ergonomic chair. That’s pretty much all I could ask for.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

It does exactly what you need it to.

It provides comfort and support while being highly adjustable and decently simple to put together. If it didn’t deliver on any of those criteria, there would be no reason to even consider getting this chair.

It won’t break the bank – for American shoppers.

I’ve seen ergonomic office chairs retailing anywhere from 150 to 350 USD. This one is usually 220 USD, with a current deal running that takes it to 200 USD. I’d consider that a fair price, especially when surveying the market.

Cons:

Let’s consider the environment.

I’ll repost the photo of the chair still in its box and ask you what you notice.

There is a significant amount of non-biodegradable waste that this chair ships with. Call me obnoxious, sure, but it’s 2025 and the seas aren’t getting any less polluted. There’s gotta be a better way to package all of this. At least it didn’t arrive broken!

Be careful which store you shop from!

European readers, look away: the second you shop for the chair on the European SIHOO storefront, the price skyrockets to well north of 300 Euro. I’ve never seen such a price gap for the same product on two storefronts. Keep that in mind while shopping.

Conclusion: Should you get it?

If you need a new studio chair, this is a pretty good one to get. As I mentioned earlier, it does exactly what you need an ergonomic chair to do, and it does it well.
