Rocketman Shares his Point of View On Debut Monstercat EP

Joshua Eberhart, p.k.a Rocketman, has had quite a unique journey. And, today, it culminates.

After winning the second season of the Monstercat Mix Contest in 2016 and working as an audio engineer for years, the DJ, producer, and Twitch streamer finally makes his Monstercat debut with his “From a Certain Point of View” EP. It’s a release that feels like a homecoming, but also a deep look into the talents of the producer behind the DJ.

The seven-tracker showcases several of Rocketman’s skills, with each track being immaculately produced and every song mixing perfectly into the next one, creating the feeling of a 20 minute continuous song when listened to in one session. Rocketman’s refined melodic bass production style takes several forms on this record: from the the slow-burning, lo-fi pianos, distorted chops, and soaring arps of “Break” to the euphoric supersaw-heavy drops of “Moonlight”, there is something for everyone here.

Rocketman also uses this project as an introduction to his chilled-out alter ego, Everheart (a play on his last name, Eberhart). The alias features on the deep-house-leaning cut “Let Go” and the EP’s closer, a liquid drum and bass track called “Slow Down”.

Also featuring on the EP are several other alumni of the Monstercat Mix Contest. 2019 champion OREONIC (who participated in the contest under the alias Monst3r) and 2020 champion Feathervane appear in the credits of “Let Go”, while 2022 champion Baldie features vocally with a monologue on “Moonlight.”

While every track is great on its own, this EP fully shines when listened to in one sitting from front to back. It’s a huge moment for Rocketman, who’s stepped up to the occasion. From our point of view, it’s certainly one of the best melodic bass projects of 2025.
