FLAUR Introduces Themselves with a Disco-Funk Statement

The debut EP from Dijon-based rising duo FLAUR (Florien and Bastien) has welcomed itself into the world like a warm breeze off the Balearic coast – equal parts beachside nostalgia and mirrorball heatstroke. Out now digitally via Cosmocities Records, “Hold On” is a lush six-track excursion that dips toes in disco, funk, dream pop, and sun-bleached downtempo, balancing exuberance with restraint like a perfectly mixed spritz. As summer winds to a close, this is the perfect soundtrack for those final weekends.

At the core are three originals that shimmer with analog warmth and melodic precision. Title track “Hold On” is silky smooth: Wurlitzer keys, slap bass gymnastics, and a golden-era disco sparkle designed to dissolve inhibition. It’s dancefloor escapism filtered through French finesse, calling to mind the soft-glow charm of Phoenix & M83 with a hint of Supertramp.

“Now” follows in even more leisurely, all pizzicato flickers and staccato synth licks orbiting a vocal take that soars with powerful choruses and addictive falsetto arts. And then there’s “On My Mind”, the EP’s emotional spine. Recorded live at Paris’s Mastoid Studio, it strips back the tempo and leans into the void, with Florian’s voice echoing like a late-night confession across piano lines and ambient guitar trails.

The remixes land with both grace and firepower. Gaettson flips “On My Mind” into a frenetic IDM stormer, rattling like a shaken can of nostalgia. Art of Tones, ever the expert in poolside propulsion, reimagines “Hold On” as a beachside slow-motion disco epic, glowing with Alan Braxe-style optimism. Finally, UK legends Faze Action wrap things up with a tight, club-ready take on “Now”, its percussive momentum and effervescent low-end tailor-made for the twilight hours.

“Hold On” is a promising first large package from FLAUR – cinematic, soulful, and endlessly sun-drenched. Whether you’re on a rooftop, a dancefloor, or a coastline somewhere between, this is music to make the moment linger. You can stream it now digitally, and it’ll be available to purchase on vinyl tomorrow.
