7 Instagram Accounts Every Music Producer Should Be Following: Quality Content That Levels Up Your Sound

The ease of creating short-form content for social media means that Instagram is flooded with clickbait and low-quality posts aimed at grabbing attention. So let me flip this script for you…

I’m sharing the seven best Instagram accounts every music producer should follow to cut through the noise. Each account offers something unique and valuable to the music production community. We start each section with a link to the Instagram account—so you can easily follow them—followed by a screen grab of their feed to see if their daily content aligns with your interests. Then, we highlight what makes each account stand out, finishing with examples of posts that showcase the value and knowledge they bring to the community. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the seven best Instagram accounts every music producer should follow to level up your game in the studio.

Magnetic Magazine

I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t plug our Instagram account at Magnetic Magazine first and foremost. But I think it’s justified because we do things a bit differently at Magnetic. We focus on producer-based interviews, pulling the most valuable quotes and tips from those interviews to share on our Instagram page. Multiple times a week, you’ll get high-value tips on using plugins and living the life of a professional music producer, all in super digestible bits.

Plus, we often host Q&As with producers in the same style as Reddit AMAs, giving you access to some of the best producers in the game to ask whatever is on your mind about production. And to top it all off, we aim to do free plugin giveaways at least once a month, partnering with some of the biggest plugin manufacturers in the game, so you have a chance to score some free swag.

We don’t focus on clickbait tips; we focus on holistic producer advice designed to level up your production while giving you access to some of the brightest minds in the game.

Point Blank Online

Point Blank Online is one of the leading brick-and-mortar music education platforms in the industry, and if you haven’t heard of them, you might have been living under a rock or are new to the game. Their Instagram account isn’t just about sharing information about their classes or offering discounts.

They also post-factual, insightful content about music producer culture, how to use specific plugins and more. This content is designed to give you a well-rounded understanding of what it means to be a music producer, arming you with information that’s essential in today’s producer culture.

They offer a wide mix of content, with fresh ideas and new posts almost daily, making it fun to keep tabs on what Point Blank is doing and the information they’re sharing. They also offer a ton of free producer resources that you can snag to level up your chops in your DAW, so click here to snag free samples, courses, and more!

drew.adieu

Drew Adieu is one of the co-founders of Cymatics, and he recently left to pursue his own hustle with his own sound and company. In doing so, he’s offering a ton of amazing music production knowledge, free resources, and access to some of the coolest offerings imaginable.

Some of his content does move into more clickbait or click-friendly territory, but I’ve always said that if the content is super high quality, it shouldn’t really be considered clickbait, and Drew is a picture-perfect example of that.

Whether you’re looking for free sample packs, quick-fire tips on drum programming, writing melodies, layering sounds, or stuff like that, his Instagram account is a solid source of inspiration and value. He occasionally hosts Instagram live streams where he answers questions and talks about music production as well.

Those are high value and something most other accounts aren’t really doing. So it’s unique, high value, and definitely something you should check out.

Cosmic Academy

Cosmic Academy is another online music production school that uses their Instagram account to offer value to the community while also guiding students into their programs.

If you can put up with the occasional sales pitch and them flexing about the successes of some of their more successful students, they offer a lot of easy-to-consume, top-of-funnel content. Their social media content is super high quality, and if you’re new to producing, you can take a lot away from it.

Some of it is pretty entry-level stuff, but they post consistently, so there’s a steady stream of high-quality content that’s great for newer to intermediate-level music producers. Plus, their mem-game is top notch so even if you think their tips are too entry level you should still give them a follow for the Lolz.

Ableton

Whoever has been managing Ableton’s social media, especially on Instagram over the past year, definitely deserves a raise because it’s been elevated to another level. The content they’ve been posting in the last 12 months has been next-level cool and interesting. It’s not clickbait-y or corny at all.

Instead, it taps into the creative lifestyle of producers, showing how to use interesting plugins in unique ways to create—dare I say it—interesting music. The content is super engaging, focusing on producers who make music in unique ways and have different creative workflows.

It’s not just regurgitated clickbait stuff that even some of the aforementioned accounts in this list are guilty of including. It’s high-quality, unique, and really makes you think about music production differently. So even if you don’t use Ableton specifically, if you’re an FL Studio or Logic user, I still recommend giving Ableton a follow because their content pushes you to think outside the box when it comes to making music in fun ways.

Ableton Tips

Ableton Tips isn’t officially affiliated with the company Ableton; it’s more of an offshoot marketing arm of the sample pack company, Production Music Live. That said, Production Music Live has made a name for themselves in the production world, especially with their high-quality samples for underground dance music genres. Their Instagram account, Ableton Tips, is a continuation of this. You’ll find tips on making genres like melodic techno, Afro House, and similar styles, often featuring short, highly digestible track breakdowns on how to create those genres. While some of it can feel a bit clickbait-y, much like Drew’s account mentioned earlier, the quality of the content makes it a valuable follow.

Like with Cosmic Academy, you’ll need to put up with the occasional sales pitch or offer, like a discount window, since they are a company trying to sell their sample packs. But outside of that, they provide high-quality tips specifically for underground music production. They also run a Fruity Loops Tips account, so if you don’t use Ableton and are on a different DAW, you might want to check out their Instagram account tailored for your DAW.

Tape Notes

Tape Notes is one of the longest-running music production podcasts out there, and while I highly recommend following the podcast itself, their Instagram feed often pulls some of the best clips, soundbites, and highlights from their interviews. These short, engaging snippets give you minute-long snapshots of the conversations with some of the biggest producers in the game, like Subfocus, 4Tet, and others. The Instagram account distills the best moments from these long-form interviews, which often run two hours or more, into concise, impactful soundbites.

While these clips may not offer as directly actionable tips as some of the other content shared by the pages mentioned earlier, they do provide short and sweet insights into the minds of some of the best artists in the game. That’s why I always find myself watching their Tape Notes content, even after I’ve already listened to the full episodes, which I catch on an almost biweekly basis.
