Alesso pairing his Swedish crossover with Zara Larsson with a self-reimagining seemed to be a matter of when, not if. It’s a welcome trend that Alesso has built out over the years—most recently giving “When I’m Gone” the VIP treatment back in February—and he had debuted one for “Words” in Las Vegas just days after its end-of-April arrival. And after formally introducing it to a wider audience during both nights of his Brooklyn Mirage season-opening stint earlier this month—along with an additional pair of never-before-heard IDs—Alesso is following up his trip back to Las Vegas for EDC with his a surprise delivery of his “Words” undertaking.Standing a towering five-and-a-half-minute runtime, Alesso’s “Words” VIP may just be his most elaborate self-remix out of the six he’s done over the years. And most had even yet to hear the VIP’s PROGRESSO-like breakdown until his appearance at circuitGROUNDS, with Alesso giving his dance-pop hybrid a proper placement in his tracklists with a three-drop overhaul of thunderous tech-house. If the previous release pattern with his VIPs is any indication, Alesso’s next original—with “Rave All Night” expectedly at the top of Dancing Astronaut‘s ID wishlist— shouldn’t be too far off.Featured image: Eric CunninghamTags: alesso, Zara Larsson
