Bedroom producer camoufly is an enigma. Citing Cashmere Cat as one of his influences, the masked artist first came into the limelight with the release of his debut EP in 2021, Apotheosis. The critically acclaimed project was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback and immediately landed on several of Spotify’s most esteemed playlists: “New Music Friday,” “Dance Rising,” and “creamy.” With the release of his sophomore EP The Giant, the mysterious producer exponentionally grew his fervent fanbase.
His brand new EP Faith, released on April 29, is his most genre-inclusive yet. Songs like “Q” and “Alone” contain tinges of trip-hop, baile, and even pop, all expertly morphed together to produce music reminiscent of earlier works by Mura Masa. “To me, making an EP like this is just the natural result of the music I listen to. If you feel like you’re hearing influences of other styles it probably means I’m listening to that kind of music when making a specific track. I have no boundaries as a listener—you could easily find Charli XCX near Sergio Mendes in my playlists. All this is mixed with my own personal path in life, the person I’m becoming and all my evolution and experiences in that sense. This also relates to the Faith theme and what it means to me,” the producer told Dancing Astronaut.Drawing inspiration from the music he consumes, life experiences, and his concurrent moods as he produces, camoufly has created a dynamic, cinematic EP. “I think production-wise, I tried to give this fairytale-like experience to the listener, with harps, chimes and all the other soundscapes I created. It’s all very camoufly-ish in a sense but at the same time I pushed the production on the EP towards these dream-like feelings, and that’s how I envision the theme of Faith, but in music form,” he added.
