Back in January, John Summit tweeted out that he had a two-day deadline to submit a remix for “the biggest artist in the world.” There were really only a handful of names that could’ve fit that bill and after he started rinsing what sounded like his own rework of “Sacrifice” at the likes of Avant Gardner and EDC Mexico the following month, everyone was able to easily fill in that blank with The Weeknd‘s name. Unfortunately for Dancing Astronaut‘s 2021 Breakout Artist of the Year, that deadline wasn’t as tight as he was originally told and after no luck at getting any feedback or not running into The Weeknd at Coachella, he decided to take matters into his own hands and let everyone swap out the live rip for the real thing. And John Summit’s “Sacrifice” take is now here, released entirely for free through his SoundCloud, YouTube, and even a downloadable Dropbox link.Co-produced by Swedish House Mafia and having already undergone a mild touch-up at the hands of the forenamed trio, the Dawn FM cut still felt like it was begging for a proper house rework. And there was truly no hotter hand to feed it to, with Summit dropping off his second spin of the month following “Don’t Forget My Love” and laying his magic on “Sacrifice” to toss yet another quality appearance onto his summer release stack.Stream the gift via Summit’s SoundCloud below or download it for free here.
