As far as soundtracks go, TRON: Legacy is one that will forever be cemented in dance music history. Finally available on streaming platforms as recently as 2020, the film score is composed by none other than Daft Punk and upholds a remixed album by dance music deities including Avicii, M83, The Glitch Mob, and many more industry heavyweights. In honor of the 40th anniversary of Disney‘s original TRON film, scored by multi-Grammy winner, electronic pioneer Wendy Carlos in 1982, all new vinyl pressings of all three albums in the franchise are due to arrive May 27 via UMC/Walt Disney Records. This list includes Carlos’ original, Daft Punk’s TRON: Legacy soundtrack from 2010, and finally the following year’s remix album, TRON: Legacy Reconfigured. As the original pressing was previously only available on standard black vinyl, this will be the first one-disc heavyweight vinyl pressing of Carlos’ original soundtrack—her third massive soundtrack project following Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, as well as scoring The Shining. In the making of the TRON: Legacy album, Daft Punk sought to bring out Carlos herself as well as a slew of iconic composers from the likes of Max Steiner, John Carpenter, and more through the use of an 85-piece orchestra at London’s AIR Studios. The soundtrack made its way to No. 10 on the charts, making it the first charting album for the French pair, while TRON: Legacy charted at No. 1 for electronic albums in 2011.Make sure to get in early and pre-order the all new pressings here.Featured image: Disney EnterprisesTags: daft punk, disney, Tron, tron legacy, tron legacy: reconfigured
