Two of the most esteemed veterans in dance music have teamed up for some up-tempo acid-riddled techno. For their first ever collaboration, Carl Cox and Fatboy Slim have given us some old-school flavor with “Speed Trials on Acid.” The new stomper will be Carl Cox’s first single since February’s “Stay Out All Night,” while it will be Fatboy Slim’s first single since 2020’s “The Voice of Experience.”With a speedy and forceful bassline, “Speed Trials on Acid” is primed to ignite Ibiza clubs, setting rooms ablaze with acid-inspired 303s. Featuring vocalist Dan Diamond, “Speed Trials on Acid” demands dancers to “get back to the beat, back to the kick drums, back to the bass, and back to the music.”Cox was first inspired for the new tune in his Australian studio over lockdown, before sending over the idea to Fatboy Slim. Cox noted that Fatboy Slim “had the idea of bringing Dan’s vocal in and adding the string work to the track to make it what it is now.”“Speed Trials on Acid” is just a short look at what Carl Cox has in his bag, as he is closing in on a forthcoming album later this year. On his current United States tour, the famed UK selector has been incorporating his live electronic sound to his hybrid sets, something that is a new type of showcase for the dance legend.
