Gorillaz have now concluded their Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez, bringing the episodic video series to a close with its final release, “The Lost Chord” featuring Leee John. “The Lost Chord” is the ninth video in the Song Machine Season One series and visually expands the third track from the group’s full-length LP, released on October 23. The eccentric yet eye-catching series has foregrounded Gorillaz’ creativity throughout the year, and “The Lost Chord” is no exception. The video features the animated Gorillaz members washed up on the shores of Plastic Beach, which fans of the group will recognize as a nod to the 2010 album. The animated makes way for a blended reality as British singer Leee John emerges from the depths of the cartoon ocean, dressed as a monster. John is very much a part of reality while the rest of the video remains in the animated world, and ultimately destroys the Island on which the group has landed.
