Purity Ring pay homage to Alice Deejay’s Eurodance hit, ‘Better Off Alone’

After sharing their third studio LP WOMB back in April, Purity Ring return to entice fans with a surprise cover of Alice Deejay’s ’90s dance classic, “Better Off Alone.”Alongside the release comes an eccentric music video directed by Andrew Barchilon that features Megan James dancing in the background as an alien wanders until both yield at each other’s presence. With finely pitched angelic vocals and the duo’s signature lo-fi electronic ambiance, the Canadian duo’s cover is an appropriate fit for today’s avant-garde taste. The original 1998 release of “Better Off Alone” saw worldwide success as one of the most catchy and recognizable songs in Eurodance-pop, in which the project was founded and produced by Wessel van Diepen, Dennis van den Driesschen, Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg. Molijn and Kalberg are notable for being former members of Dash Berlin.Speaking on the impetus for the cover, Megan James and Corin Roddick of Purity Ring said,Featured image: Emma SwannTags: , , , ,
