Safe to say, fresh Lane 8 material has not been in short supply this year, and, fortunately for the melodic beat weaver’s following, it doesn’t look like this pattern will be changing anytime soon. The This Never Happened head has continued his new content tear with a Kasablanca co-project dubbed “Run,” the follow-up to “Matcha Mistake,” released July 2.
Replete with rushing, textured melodies, “Run” bursts through the release gate to earn classification as Lane 8’s latest with verve. Sonically, “Run” adds to a heap of 2020 Lane 8 outputs, ranging from his third studio LP, Brightest Lights, which arrived early in January, to his comparatively more recent Summer 2020 Mixtape, to an avalanche of one-offs in between. With more than six singles in the rearview, it’s evident that Lane 8’s accelerant pace only continues to pick up speed as the year progresses.
