Barely a month after Swedish Gambian singer, songwriter and model LISA CONTA introduced herself to the music world with her sultry R&B debut ‘Difficult’, which was championed by BBC Radio London, Foundation FM, Reprezent Radio, The Beat London, Link Up TV, Wordplay Magazine and IGGY Magazine among others, the London-based songstress is not resting on her laurels as she returns with an infectious house music offering titled ‘NEVER ANSWER’, just in time for the summer, while she puts the finishing touches to her debut EP.

Produced by MOBO Award nominated UK music veteran DJ Ironik (JME, Snoop Dogg, Elton John) and co-written with UK electronic soul mainstay Roses Gabor, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Gorillaz, SBTRKT, Shy FX and Machinedrum, ‘Never Answer’ is an instant dance floor filler, led by a lush bassline, glorious synths, sunny dance vibes and exquisite pop sensibilities, over which, Lisa Conta shows forth her beautiful vocals, relatable songwriting dexterity and penchant for unforgettable harmonies.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Never Answer’ and how the single came together, Lisa Conta says, “I think we all can relate to that feeling when you really need to reach someone and they’re not picking up. ‘Never Answer’ is about the frustration and irritation you feel when you’re constantly calling someone who’s not picking up your call. ‘You never answer’ was the first line that came to my head as soon as I heard the beat, so we decided to keep it and built the song out from there. It was a real honour working with Ironik and Roses on this one”.

Born and raised in Stockholm, and now residing in London, Lisa Conta come with a strong musical family pedigree, from her grandfather Demba Conta, who is one of Gambia’s biggest music stars, to her father Eddie Conta, known for such hits as ‘Dongoo’ and ‘Manyoo’. Her passion for singing and being immersed in her family’s musical heritage, led her to join her school choir at the age of 10, and she started developing her own sound through her teenage years, inspired by R&B icons such as Brandy, Whitney Houston and Aaliyah.

Now also a sought-after model signed to legendary modelling agency Storm Models, Lisa Conta has already graced the pages of Wonderland Magazine, British Vogue, ELLE and The Observer, among others. Alongside her modelling career and over the lockdown, Lisa has been working on her debut EP, which is set for release at the end of the year. Our first taste of the project was the R&B tinged ‘Difficult’ and now the brand new infectious house number ‘Never Answer’, introducing us to the eclectic multiverse sounds of Lisa Conta.
