To mark the 20th release on his own Burnin’ Music imprint, Pegasvs returns to the limelight with “Extend & Play“, a celebratory four-tracker that encapsulates not only his distinct production ethos, but also the bright future ahead for his label.
Over the past few years, Pegasvs has quietly carved out a space all his own, blending deep, groove-led house with rich melodic textures and playful rhythmic nuance. This latest release feels like a true celebration of sound, of intent, and of community. After all, it takes a lot to get to your 20th release as a label!
Across the EP, Pegasvs showcases the full spectrum of his diverse sound. From the jazz-heavy, funk-fused warmth of the title track to the shimmering disco strut of “Wonky Business”, each of the four tracks pulses with movement and joy. “Hidden Sounds” digs deeper, offering a moody, rolling rhythm that bridges the two previous tracks, while “Not Far Behind” lifts off completely, with acid lines and euphoric pads colliding into a heady dancefloor escape.
We had the chance to catch up with Pegasvs to talk about his label’s 20th release, his inspirations, his creative process, and his reflections on a recent move from Paris to London. Check some of the tracks from “Extend & Play”, then read on to see what the maestro himself had to say.
Congratulations on releasing “Extend & Play” on your own Burnin’ Music imprint. Talk us through the EP!
I’ve been a full-time DJ for a decade now and as a DJ, I play lots of different stuff. As a result, this EP is a representation of my tastes in music – it features deep house influences but also broken flavors and acid house energy.
Where did you grow up, and how did your environment shape your relationship with music?
I grew up in Marseille, France. As a kid I was extremely influenced by French hip-hop. I grew up wanting to be a DJ and to be more precise, a hip-hop DJ.
My dad has a massive vinyl collection and we’ve always been surrounded by music at the house. I was lucky enough to be introduced to quality music at a very young age.
You relocated to London, what differences have you noticed in the scene compared to France/Paris?
I feel Paris is a beautiful city, but it also is a very conservative city. As a result, Parisians tend to not be super open. And also a bit self-absorbed!
When I moved to London, I really felt the cosmopolitan influences coming from all around, and it’s also the case in the music culture here.
Can you share some insight into your creative process when producing music? Do you have any particular rituals or methods that help you stay inspired?
I use a lot of analog gear in my studio. The two main pieces of equipment being an MPC 2000XL and a Roland TR 707. When I turn on those machines, I feel instantly inspired by the ‘process’ that is necessary to use them. It is like a ritual, and it helps a lot when I need to create fresh music.
As someone deeply rooted in the house scene, what state is it in right now? What notable artists are emerging?
it’s never been such an exciting time to make music. There’s never been so many music producers and also so many ways to share and discover music. I feel competition is healthy and I get inspired almost every day by other people’s music and success.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Playing dimensions festival a few years ago was a true highlight!

Why do you think persistence is such an important part of making it in the music industry?
I run regularly (I ran several marathons and half marathons) and in such events, it’s not about the speed so much. It’s about consistency and enjoying the process…
I see the music industry exactly like this: it’s not about how fast you reach your goal(s), but more about enjoying the process and being consistent. Things take time to complete, especially if you want to do things right..
If you could play B2B with any DJ, who would it be and why?
I would love to play back to back with Danilo/MCDE. He’s released incredible music throughout his career, and his 2 first “Raw Cuts” EPs started everything for me.
When you are not busy with music, what might we find you doing?
Running!
Finally, what do you have coming up in the next few months? Feel free to mention anything!
This EP is only the first chapter of a three vinyl series entitled “in search of”, so I’m working towards release number 2 which will come out in September 2025. Stay tuned!
