LUUDE takes on Labrinth‘s trippy, downtempo dreamscape, “Vibes (Euphoria),” in a nimble new flip that transforms the LSD constituent’s original. In contrast to the lazy, honey like pace of Labrinth’s track, which soundtracked episode seven of HBO’s Euphoria, LUUDE’s version proceeds with a natural springiness. Tonal glimmers run through LUUDE’s remix, offering a brightness that complements the song’s skittering chords and elastic beat.
I’m stoked to be able to write music normally again [and] I’m more motivated than ever to really push things to a new level now. I’ve nearly finished [my] debut EP and while I was working on that a few remixes came together really quickly. I’ve been loving the soundtrack to Euphoria so I couldn’t wait to do something with it.
The revamp represents a triumph for the Australian producer: it’s LUUDE’s first release since his near-death motorcycle accident earlier this year. Although LUUDE sustained severe head injuries that rendered him partially deaf in his left ear, LUUDE asserts his resilience with the flip. The re-imaginative endeavor precedes the arrival of LUUDE’s forthcoming debut EP.
