The Weeknd Releases New Album Featuring Skrillex, Gesaffelstein, and Half of Daft Punk

The Weeknd has just dropped his highly anticipated new album, My Dear Melancholy,. On the first listen to the album it a bit more reserved than that his last release, Starboy. The EP focuses more on R&B elements rather than show-stopping mainstream hits, but all in all, it is truly an outstanding effort from one music’s most in-demand artists.

Production Credits Littered With Big Name EDM Stars

The storyline The Weeknd’s last album was the fact he worked closely with Daft Punk on two tracks. The titular track ‘Starboy’ and the more reserved ‘I Feel it Coming’. Immediately fans fell in love with the classic vocoder hooks authored by the robots. The Weeknd has once again tapped some the brightest minds in dance music to help produce several tracks on the album.

While French industrialist Gesaffelstein is the only artist to appear as a featured credit, a review author credits show that The Weeknd once again teamed up with Daft Punk. Well, half the duo at least. One the track ‘Hurt You’ Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is listed alongside Gesaffelstein as a producer. Fans might be even more excited to see Skrillex also had his hand in producing a track. Sonny helped on the tune ‘Wasted Times’ which is without a doubt the grooviest cut on the EP. Overall My Dear Melancholy is an excellent release, we cannot wait to hear to performed live this summer festival season, and see what remixes come from the world dance music.
