The Chainsmokers Release New EP Featuring 'Somebody'

The Chainsmokers have wasted no time in 2018 making a big statement. The guys have strayed away from dance music in their most recent original productions, and have found mixed results. As demonstrated by their Ultra 2018 set, The Chainsmokers can still do dance music arguably better than anyone but still, Alex and Drew seem to be drawn to a more alternative sound. Today they released a new EP called Sick Boy, featuring three their most recent singles and a never before heard track called ‘Somebody'.

‘Somebody' is a slow, driving, pensive track featuring both Drew and Drew Love on vocals. The tune is steeped in heavy hip-hop vibes and is almost reminiscent The Weeknd at points. While that seems like an absurd comparison to draw…just listen to the track and tell me I am wrong. Overall the song is actually pretty decent. ‘Somebody' demonstrates that The Chainsmokers are still working to defy all expectations. While sometimes this has resulted in a dumpster fire, this time around the guys got the formula right.
