DJ Khaled Earns First No. 1 on Billboard 200 with ‘Major Key’

Another one. Make that, his first one.

DJ Khaled has earned his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart thanks to his star-studded album Major Key.

Selling 95,000 equivalent album units (59,000 traditional), Major Key dethrones Drake’s Views, which had been at No. 1 for 12 non-consecutive weeks.

This is the largest sales week for Khaled since 2007’s We the Best hit No. 8 with 79,000 units sold. Aside from being his highest-charting album, Major Key is also his seventh top 10 LP. His second highest-charting project was 2012’s Kiss the Ring.

Next week’s chart position could be a big one as well. After Aug. 5, Major Key was made available on all streaming platforms outside of Apple Music, where it was exclusive for its first week. Beyond that, Khaled is set to drop the physical CD on Aug. 12.

Major Key features Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Nas, J. Cole, Meghan Trainor, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Future. Speaking of Future, the album marks Epic’s second No. 1 of 2016 following Hendrix’s February album, EVOL.

Khaled celebrated the win by kissing his fiancΓ©’s belly and telling his future son all about it. “Son, congratulations,” he said. “I love you. We did it.”
